GANBOLD D.: “Jazz time”

XanaduART gallery is hosting a posthumous exhibition by artist D.Ganbold (1961 – 2007) entitled “Jazz time”. The retrospective exhibition is organized by the artist’s friends and family in his memory.

 D.Ganbold graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts with a painting degree in 1981 and went on to study the art of sculpting at the Fine Arts Academy of Ukraine. Since 1995, he resided in Selenge aimag.

This Naadam XanaduART gallery will host N.Munkhbat’s “Red blue red” solo exhibition showcasing more than 30 works by the artist.  

Munkhbat’s work combines techniques of Mongolian traditional painting (Mongol zurag) with western oil painting methods in order to create a unique fusion of styles. His works often explore characters from Mongolian folklore and history, endowing familiar motifs with a fresh perspective.

Born in 1979, Munkhbat has graduated from the College of Fine Arts (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia) in 1996. He has participated in numerous exhibitions both at home and abroad. Munkhbat was awarded second prize in XanaduART gallery’s annual “In pursuit of an ideal insight II” art competition held in 2007.

“XanaduART” gallery is pleased to present artist S. Ganzug’s solo exhibition entitled “Calendar”.

S. Ganzug’s exhibition centers on the theme of ankle bones, which have a special place in Mongolian culture. When growing up, ankle bones are used as toys in many different games, when growing old, ankle bones can help tell one’s fortune. There are many customs and traditions associated with ankle bones. The artist explores these different aspects of ankle bones and their importance to Mongolian culture with his paintings, installations and videos. The unique shape of the ankle bone is rendered by the artist in various different mediums as he plays with the concept.

Although “Calendar” is S. Ganzug’s first solo exhibition, he has previously participated in several group shows at “XanaduART” gallery. Born in 1978, Ganzug has graduated from “Setgemj” College of Industrial Design in 2000.
